Description

Being Brave When You Don't Want to Be

Whenever I discuss my experiences as a trans and autistic person, people call me brave, but I'm not a brave person. I cover my eyes during scary parts of movies, and I'm not going skydiving anytime soon. When people call me brave, they often mean I'm brave for simply living. So, I'm not brave because I want to be but because I must be. That's what this workshop is for. It's for those who must be brave when they don't want to be and those who want to create a world where we don't have to be brave.

In this workshop, participants will:

  • Deepen commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of authenticity, vulnerability, and psychological safety.
  • Understand critical topics of inclusion relating to LGBTQ identities and neurodiversity.
  • Learn tools and techniques for difficult conversations, self-advocacy, and proactively creating inclusive environments.
  • Apply learnings and practice techniques with real work scenarios.
