Timothy Alexander
Speaker Bio
Timothy Alexander has dedicated his life to motivating and inspiring others. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Alexander was ranked the No. 8 high school football player in the state. With a choice to play for any college in the country, Alexander’s life trajectory changed when he was involved in a car accident in 2006, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. From that point on, Alexander discovered a new purpose in life. He was the first paraplegic to receive a football scholarship at University of Alabama at Birmingham, making his mark leading initiatives such as the 2014 #FreeUAB movement and joining with UAB Boosters and Birmingham city leaders/supporters to help raise over $40 million in one year. Upon completing his collegiate career, he received various awards such as the Colonel Leo Thorsness “Courage Award” from the Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) and the “Challenge Coin.” His proudest moment was when he was able to stand up on his own for the first time since being paralyzed, catching the attention of ABC National News, TMZ Sports, and other news stations worldwide. Now as a keynote speaker, Alexander is a living example of the phrase, “We don’t need it to be easy. We just need it to be possible.”
