Keith Morton is the director of the Southern Region of the National Credit Union Administration, headquartered in Austin, Texas. Morton oversees the examination and supervision of all federally insured credit unions in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Morton's career began in 1986 as a field examiner in Washington, D.C. He spent eight years in management roles in then-Region II (Alexandria, Virginia) as a supervisory examiner, director of special actions, and director of supervision before joining the Western Region as associate regional director in 2002. Additionally, he served as president of the NCUA’s Asset Management and Assistance Center from 2016 until 2023. Morton holds an accounting degree from Frostburg State College.
