Participation Lending: Leveling the Playing Field
Balancing loan growth with available liquidity across the credit union ecosystem is a challenge. While many credit unions are “loaned out,” others have excess liquidity, but lack the infrastructure to scale business development and lending operations. Loan participations can be an effective tool to mitigate this issue, but more than 40% of credit unions have never participated. Recent NCUA rule changes and the evolution of trading platforms are leveling the playing field for all credit unions. In this session we will share the current and future state of participation lending to address how we can simplify and scale-down processes that allow more credit unions to buy and sell loan pools of all sizes.
