Steven Johnson was born and raised on a cattle and grain farm near Assaria, Kansas. He studied Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University, where he was elected Student Body President, and received a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Chicago. Steven has enjoyed a career at Ameriprise, where he has earned awards for creating a software program calculating the highest return investment portfolio for a particular need. He continues to use those skills in the legislature and his farming operations.

First elected in 2010, Johnson has chaired multiple key committees, including House Tax and Insurance and Pensions. His crucial and sometimes tedious contributions to these committees have helped secure a stable financial future for Kansas. Voters recognized these efforts and elected him Treasurer this last year.
