Rui Xu was born in Switzerland to Chinese graduate students pursuing their PhDs before moving to the United States and his childhood home of Rolla, Missouri. After graduation from the University of Southern California, he returned to the Midwest and made Kansas his chosen home. He began a successful career in sports analytics working for Sporting Kansas City. Following a career change to a marketing analyst, he went to work for MMGY Global and then one of the area’s largest non-profits Children International.

Xu’s desire to help his community and country called him to run for office in 2018, and he is now in his third term representing House District 25 of the Kansas Legislature. Since then, his involvement in the statehouse has been essential to the credit union industry as he is already serving as a ranking member of the Financial Institutions and Pensions committee for a second term. He is Co-Chair of the bipartisan Future Caucus, which has sought to champion legislation most important to young and future generations.
