A CEO at Every Desk

Leadership does not only reside at the top of an organization. Leadership comes from the middle and front line – right where customers and colleagues expect it most. Leadership is no longer top-down. leadership is up, down, and across organization charts and job descriptions. With a requirement for exceptional leadership in the all-important positions responsible for delivering your vision and mission, leaders must apply their influence upward upon superiors, across to their fellow managers, down to the colleagues they supervise, and directly to the customers they serve.

What Your Member Wants and Can't Tell You

“Our job would be so easy if it wasn’t for the members.” Have you ever heard someone say that (or said it yourself)? The bulk of human decisions are made subconsciously (using rules of thumb that become very predictable when you know the rules). Because of this, behavioral economics is being implemented in companies around the world to better communicate with and attract customers, members, and clients.

This fun and engaging presentation, based on Melina’s award-winning book What Your Customer Wants and Can’t Tell You, will explain what behavioral economics is, how brain science is being incorporated into everything from hospitals to household products, and how attendees can start applying their learnings in their work immediately using Melina’s “behavioral baking” approach.

Forget Reality, Embrace Perception for Loan Growth

Join Josh on a journey through an alternate universe full of real-world examples where members love you for refinancing their loans to higher interest rates. A universe where direct loan growth is fueled by not having an online loan application. There will be no time for reality as you journey into the tremendous power of perception. Your credit union’s most powerful economics are not micro or macro, they’re behavioral. Through stories of product repackaging, focusing on experience over service, and thinking consumer-first, Josh will challenge you to think differently. Along the way, hear about why Josh believes most people would rather visit a funeral home than a branch. Buckle up, next stop…growth town.

The Importance of Distinguishing between Governance and Management

Looking ahead, credit unions will continue to face stiff competition, a rising and evolving technology environment, significant regulatory and taxation uncertainties, and human resources succession challenges. Credit union volunteers and management are challenged to think strategically and consider how they will thrive in a market that looks very different from today’s environment. To be successful, they must consider which capabilities to focus on across many potential scenarios. Never has role clarity between governance and management been more important.

Learner outcomes:

  • Identify board development opportunities
  • Identify management areas of opportunities
  • Improved strategic focus on the credit union's future
