Intersection of CDFI and Financial Inclusion

Established in 1994, the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund has been a critical tool in the toolbox for financial institutions – particularly credit unions – used to strengthen their lending approaches to maximize serving historically underserved communities. Since the inception of Inclusiv in 1975 (formerly the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions), we have asserted that fair financial services and products are a fundamental right for all. As a result, our services to credit union members have included assisting Community Development Credit Unions (CDCU) with CDFI certification, education, and technical assistance to increase financial inclusion.

In this session you will learn about the CDFI Fund, CDFI certification and Inclusiv’s services to support a range of efforts to increase financial inclusion at your credit union.

They Got My Back: Creating Psychological Safety on Your Team

Every team screws up, mismanages priorities, and hits roadblocks. When a culture of psychological safety is in place, the best teams view challenges as learning opportunities, treat one another as partners in that learning, and know how to talk about difficult things without wounding one another. Yet, it's easy to forget the human elements of work when we're faced with deadlines, pressure to perform, and a desire for excellence. When we forget to prioritize the psychological safety and culture of our teams and organizations, we not only rob our people of a chance to make contributions with confidence, but we also guarantee our organizational goals will suffer in the long term.

In this session we’ll:

  • Get clear on what psychological safety is and is not.
  • Through reflection, understand where your team currently stands.
  • Workshop a plan for you to improve the psychological safety of your team.
